There and back again

Sparrows Galore!

As we sat having lunch today the garden was suddenly invaded by a large flock of sparrows. Now we have our resident little flock who live in the hedge close to the feeder and often there is a group sitting with their heads out like residents on balconies of a high rise block of flats, but these were not ours (if you know what I mean!).

No, there must have been twenty of more who attacked the food tray whilst the others fed of the fallen seed on the ground under the feeder. I managed to grab this snap shot, which doesn't do justice to the numbers, and then they were away !

Yesterday we had a female Sparrow Hawk sat on the feeder for a good ten minuets looking around (you never have a camera do you) and as soon as I moved to get it, off it went.

For a few quid a bird feeder gives you hours of entertainment like "Who were the marauding flock of sparrows?" Answers on a postcard please (or a blip).

Not the clearest of shots but a look at them in "Large" may help you with the answer.
