Walls and blackberries

I couldn't resist this. French speakers will have noticed the pun here: the title above would translate as 'Murs et mûres', both pronounced the same (to my ears at least).
It's on the lane that leads to my garden, and it's someone else's blackberry bush so, though tempted, I didn't pick them. I did pick another bagful yesterday, and combined them with apples from my garden to make a blackberry and apple pie for a friend's party. Though all the ingredients are plentiful here, this staple British autumn dessert seems unknown to all my friends. So much the better - I gain a lot of kudos for making something really simple.
