Birthday tea

It would have been my mother's 100th birthday today, and I thought I would have a proper English tea in her honour. So some friends are coming this afternoon, and I've got out her silver tea service and embroidered tablecloth, and polished the kitchen furniture. There'll be cucumber sandwiches, scones and jam and cream, and cake, and a potful of Earl Grey. It''ll certainly be a change from my usual mealtime offerings. I'd better go now, because I've still got the sandwiches to make.
I think the teapot was a wedding gift to my grandparents, my mother's parents, in 1895. I remember it being used at home, for special guests.
