Clever boy
Today we got some jobs done, including visiting Kiddicare and Ikea to look at baby gates and buy bibs and other general baby paraphernalia. We got home later than usual so Charlie was fed and put straight to bed. He's not so interested in feeding himself to sleep anymore so I put him down awake, pulled down the black out blind, turned his Winnie the Pooh projector on and sat back in the feeding chair at the foot of his cot.
I can normally leave him to settle himself to sleep but sometimes I like to stay in the room until I know he's off. Tonight I'm glad I did.
The Winnie the Pooh night-show projects a moving image onto the ceiling and plays a tune (one of three). It also lights up an image on the unit which is attached to the inside of the cot (the white glowing object seen on the left of todays blip). The unit features the various characters as buttons which, when pressed, make Zzzz sounds. The whole thing is also sound and motion activated. It plays for 10 minutes then turns off. If it hears a loud noise, like a baby crying, it automatically turns itself back on again. You can see why I bought it.
This evening Charlie was rolling around, fighting his Wabbit, kicking off his blanket and just happily working off his last bit of energy. After 5 minutes the fussing stopped and so did the lightshow. I was about to get up and leave the room when Charlie starting moving again.
His head was initially at the bottom of today's blip picture. I then looked through the bars, over his cot bumper, to see him crawling and shuffling. He turned himself around 180 degrees and then started to move up the cot. When he got halfway, he lay on his back, brought his arm up and whacked the Winnie the Pooh projector that I realised he was now level with. The show came back on and Charlie looked at it then promptly rolled onto his side and fell asleep - as you can just make out in the picture.
I sat surprised and amused for about ten minutes before I went downstairs to tell Robin. The movement was definitely not an accident. He very purposefully went for the projector and then turned it on. Crazy! And the highlight of my day :)
