LA9 to CA95010 and back..

Clouds Rest. Luckily, with no clouds resting now.

So, Ansel Adams this is not.

But, as a record of where we all got to today, it's good.

The Clouds Rest trail is a 14.5 mile round trip, up to a height of 9926 feet. That's 1100 feet higher than Half Dome, which is the lump you can see there. It's at altitude, which makes it hard work. This ridge to the tip-top summit has a drop off on the right, which is pretty much what you can see disappearing out of the bottom right corner. The trail description says the drop on the left "is less extreme, but it wouldn't require special talent to wind up just as thoroughly and symmetrically dead by falling off that side". Okay then.

This was occasionally second-degree fun - not fun at the time, only afterwards.

But I was so proud of R, who struggled with a bit of altitude headache, along with a bit of My Parents Make Me Do The Dumbest Things.

We all did extremely well.
