On the drip

Farmers have to be multi talented people, and jacks of all trades. This morning, while feeding out in the rain, we noticed that one of our cows that had calved a couple of days ago, was down with milk fever and wasn't able to stand up.

Along comes Farmerboy with an infusion of Calpro 375, (a drip that aids in restoring glucose blood storage levels in cattle), pops the needle under the skin, and waits for the solution to dissolve under the skin. In severe cases, he places the needle direct into the main artery under the neck. He did this a couple of weeks ago, and saved the cow. How clever is he!

The cow in today's photo was up walking around with her calf this afternoon. Tomorrow her calf will go into the calf shed, while the cow will go into the milking herd.
