Along the Royal Millitary Canal near Hythe

Another stretch of the Kent Coast Walk completed. Ten and a half miles from New Romney to Hythe. This shot was taken towards the end of the walk approaching Hythe. The whole walk was good but this stretch crowned a good day as Susan saw her first ever kingfisher flitting along the canal - the same bird 3 times as we ambled along the towpath.

We took the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway from Hythe down to New Romney - which in itself is a fun thing to do. As you can see in an earlier blip on 6th July 2013 these trains are pulled by wonderful little engines giving a real sensation of speed.

Only one section of the walk was a bit dodgy where an ill defined footpath skirted a sewage works and you had to force your way through tall prickly weeds for a few hundred yards. But the rest was great, all along the seawall from New Romney to beyond Dymchurch, passing holiday makers on the beach and brave souls in the sea.

So the day turned out to be a great day despite its inauspicious start - I went to the dentist for preparatory work for fitting a crown over some of my teeth. After an effective injection a tooth was shaped to a peg ready to fit the crown. A temporary crown was inserted and I was away, pain free and suprised!
