Whitby Day 2 : Prof Merryweather
La Rosa tea rooms is a beautiful victorian tea rooms on the west cliff of Whitby. it was famous also as a favoruite staying place of Lewis Carroll back in the day. Today it houses the hotel and tea room, a fantastic cabinet of curiosities and also a great show featuring the distinguished palaeontologist Professor Ambrose Merryweather and his wondrous collection of ammonites, fossils and bones.
Meeting in the entrance hall we were told that a key had been found to a secret door in the basement of the hotel... We went downstairs and discovered a sleeping guest forgotten over time that when woken proceeded (with a little helper) to tell us all about the amazing fossils he had discovered.. Wonderful puppetry for all the family!!
