Wagtails galore!

Busy day today ;-) hairdresser, meeting a friend for lunch, then some shopping. As it's been such a long time since I've been down to the riverbank in the city centre, I thought I'd try and get down there for half an hour. I'd hoped I might see some butterflies on the buddleia but it was too early in the day. I'm always on the lookout for kingfishers along that stretch - I see them about one in 20 visits - but as it took a BBC film crew 11 hours to get a few very fleeting shots, I would have to have been very lucky to see any in just 30 mins. Never mind. What I did see was lots of wagtails on the weir - a few pied but mostly grey. They seem to have had a very successful breeding season. This one I assume to be a juvenile bug hunting in the shallows. Didn't have by mega lens so this is quite heavily cropped. No matter. It's good to see them thriving in an urban environment!
