Picnic in the park
The day started bright and early again thanks to Charlie's 5am wake up time. It's getting beyond the point where he just feeds and sleeps. He'll feed initially but then is full of beans and starts kicking, and rolling and crawling around the bed! We then can't sleep for fear of him crawling straight off the edge.
After an hour or so of us taking in turns to doze, Charlie finally wore himself out and fell asleep- just as it was time for Robin to wake up :( He took Charlie downstairs so I got a little bit longer, bless him.
Whilst poor Robin had to go to work, Charlie and I spent the morning playing in his playroom (between unpacking a Tesco delivery, tidying, doing the washing etc etc all boring stuff!) I'm very slowly putting together a photobook book of our holiday but I ended up on the floor with the little man most of the time!
At lunchtime Charlie and I headed over to Albert Recreational Ground for our outdoor Baby Wonder Weeks. We met up with Anna, Anna, Emily, Ewan and the babies: Eva, Mattheus, and Oscar. It was very hot again so we sat under the trees, pulled out a load of toys, and chilled for a couple of hours. Well, as chilled as you can with crawlers who are desperate to eat grass!
I'd packed Charlie his lunch and completely forgot about myself. Still, he enjoyed a yummy pork & apple casserole (thanks Hipp Organic!) a fruit pot, some rice crackers and the biggest baby snack ever from Anna. It was a giant cheesy puff as long as Charlie's arm! It looked like a magic wand.
I was trying to hold and feed Charlie at the same time using a spoon but it was hard work and I think he was getting frustrated right up until he grabbed the pouch and started sucking from it! Fair enough!
The swings beckoned again: the boy is a pro and I'm getting braver with how hard I push him. He went on with Eva (my birthday buddy!) and they both loved it.
We took a slow walk home as C hadn't napped longer than 30 minutes all day and thankfully he got another 30 mins or so before more play time.
I got to witness another first too- clapping! He was just doing it to himself, but so easily and in a way that made me think he's done it before. He's been using both hands together for a long while now (passing objects etc) but he's clearly been holding out on mummy with the claps :)
I did bath time this evening then he was out for the count just after 7pm. Despite our early start Robin and I still didn't get to bed early. I was too busy steaming the sofa with my new toy. Sad act!
