Midge Haven
No mountains this morning so we postponed our planned walk and headed south to Inverewe Gardens a place we last visited 8 years ago on a very cold spring day.
Quite the opposite today: warm, muggy, wet and midgy! This lovely walled garden was a positive haven for them. Chris went to get the 'Skin so Soft' from the car and obliged 3 Spanish ladies by spraying them in the face with it on his way back into the gardens.
Higher up from the water there was enough breeze in the trees to keep them at bay. We returned via Corrieshalloch Gorge which is the deepest box gorge in Britain. It certainly was scarily deep. The wet weather had moved on by this time so we got fish and chips in Ullapool and ate them overlooking the harbour surrounded by gulls!
