Dancing On a Bed Of Stars
The oldest of the cousins is married! Scary thought, really, but it was a beautiful wedding in the Scottish highlands. Gorgeous scenery, and the sun even poked it's head out for a few nice photographs! My favourite photograph, though, was this: the dance floor lit up with twinkling lights for the bride and groom's first dance. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo, I was taking them in between family members throwing cameras at me to take pictures for them. This is a short poem I wrote when I got home:
White wedding: a blur in the rain of Scottish summer.
The Tay beamed benedictions on the newly wed couple
Despite the showers no grinning faces could prevent.
The bride, beautiful in all God's given glory,
Majestically paced into the hearts of old family, and new.
The groom, standing handsomely with awestruck tears
Swimming beneath his skin, raised his eyes in a prayer
As both lifted their clear voices to the angels, declaring in the silence:
'I do.'
A rainstorm away, they danced on a bed of stars,
Supporting and flowing amid the sky and clouds of their guests.
A day full of smiles, laughter and love, journeyed home,
Quietly ascending to bed in the raw Scottish hills by the gleaming river.
Following a tarmac rainbow, the golden light of newly joined love
Beamed out from the star filled union.
And the sky danced away the clouds in a blaze of blessings.
It was a beautiful day :)
