Ay Cabomba!

The ongoing saga of my aquarium has moved on a chapter with the introduction of half a dozen neon tetras and three zebra danios (Danio rerio).
The latter are interesting creatures from a cancer research point of view. Apparently not having bone marrow and having a thin skin make them better than mice for example for experimentation. Their embryos are useful for experimentation. Probably for practice geneticists engineered some danios (so I have read anyway) with jellyfish genes for glowing, so these types are known as Glo fish.
All sounds a bit iffy but is probably sound enough and ethical (if you are not a danio). I have seen glowing pigs and chickens at the Roslin Institute outside Edinburgh and the knowledge and practice gained from these kinds of experiments have led to progress in treating humans suffering from the blinding eye condition retinopathy pigmentosa.
Oh and the tank now has a bit of interest.
