Downtown ATL
After a late start, we picked up the rental car and got
some brunch - another Waffle House spectacular. We then drove down to a closer metro station and got the train into downtown.
Downtown was more crazy than before. Not only
Was dragoncon still on, with the myriad of costumes and outfits, but there was the Chick-fil-A bowl college football game between Alabama and Virginia tech. Cue 1000's of people of all ages in their respective college outfits drinking and mingling and generally having a great time in the Georgia heat.
We came specifically to check out the CNN headquarters and their behind the scene tour. Very well done, although we didn't see much filming as the whole Obama vs Syria thing had just kicked off so they were filming in their DC studio. The headquarters is located in what once was an indoor theme park. And to get to the start of the tour you travel on the world's largest free standing elevator. Checked two world records off in two days!
Back on the metro and a quick shot of downtown from the top of the parking structure.
A quick power nap and dinner in the hotel restaurant - very good - then off to the sticks to meet wedding party and wife's old college friends again for more drinking and reminiscing.
