Don't take the high road...

I had planned to do a lot of driving yesterday and I did. Not as many miles as I'd have preferred and not all in the same direction - 60 out and 60 back actually. Out on the high road over the north Durham moors up on the Pennines I slowed down for two sheep wandering close to the road on my right hand side. They turned into the deep grass and reeds and moved away and as they did their 'mate' leapt out of the grass on my left to join them. I jammed on my brakes and slowed from about 30 to probably 20 and whack!!! There was an unavoidable and inevitable collision. The sheep ran off into the bracken and grass.

The damage looks slight but I imagine BMW have a very advantageous price list for an X5 front bumper, near side wheel moulding, headlight washer and fog/driving light cluster. A smaller car would have probably lost the front end and have to be towed home so I can't complain. I'll try again today - on the low road - in a Ford Fiesta.
