Travels Through A Lens

Teddy Bear Hospital

I met Izzie today who mends much loved teddies for a living. She is a lovely person with lilac hair and lilac clothes with a warm open smile and ruddy cheeks that reminds me of the matron at one of my schools. We had a 'sister' who was a battle ax with black hair, a constant scowl (it so it seemed to me as a 7 year old) and the navy blue nurse uniform who was the 'bad cop' and a matron with softer features pale curly hair, ruddy cheeks and a white uniform who was the 'good cop'.

Anyway Izzie had these much loved teddies who people have entrusted to her to mend. The larger one at the back belongs to a lady of 72 who has had him since she was 1. He was burned on his head (where the skin graft is at the moment) when his owner was 8 years old and that graft has been in place ever since. He is now getting a new graft put on that is more in keeping with his own fur.

I have a much loved teddy called Mr Ted, who is made of material as we lived in hot countries where you didn't get fur to make teddies or want to cuddle up to a furry bear that would, as my nephew once said "make you as hot as a pig with fur".

Friends were over for the night and we were up until 2am catching up. It was a lovely relaxing evening.
