Falling Stars, Valentine flower; Montbretia

It is easy to take these beautiful flowers of Crocosmia for granted, easy to grow and ubiquitous as they are. Native to Southern Africa they really do light up the garden at this time of year and shall do so right into autumn. I like them because they were my grandpa's favourite. He called them "Orange lilies" - true Ulsterman as he was.
