daurade

We went fishing for daurade today in Carro. I hoped we'd get one, but there wasn't much chance.

Arrived at the first beach and there were far more people than expected - no chance of fishing. So, we headed to the beach we went to in March when I visited Pierre for a few days. It's a lot rockier, but there were far fewer people.

We got set up with three rods and got a bite straight away. It was a tiny wee sar. Then we caught a girelle (a rainbow wrasse) and, finally, a daurade. And not just any old daurade...a daurade royale! It's a gilt-head bream in English. What a feeling! I was so excited, I dropped my iPhone in the water - nightmare! Just hoping the rest of the afternoon in the sun dried it out. Fingers crossed. It still seems to be working, but that means nothing! It could conk out in a couple of weeks' time!

Home to barbecue the fish.

Class.

Oh, and we were a bit barbecued by the sun as well today - we're bright red!!
