Transport of Delight

It was one of those days in life that you will always remember with a warm happy feeling.

The occasion was the wedding of my youngest nephew Paul to his beautiful fiancee Emily, held in perfect weather at the lovely St Mary's Church in the village of Comberton near Cambridge.

Following the heartwarming service and formalities their unusual mode of transport to the reception one mile away was this rather stylish tricycle. The bride and groom are both keen cyclists and triathletes so it was the perfect way to start their married life. On the way they picked up a young hitch-hiker in the form of Paul's nephew Aidan.

I think this photo sums up the pure joy of the day.

The reception for nearly 100 people was held in a huge marquee on the lawn at Emily's parents house where we we treated to a champagne dinner complete with some of the best and funniest speeches I have ever heard at a wedding. Someone worked out that there were 35 doctors at the reception so we would be in good hands if over indulging.

Once the tables were cleared away the fun started with a traditional Ceilidh enjoyed by old and young, followed by a disco into the early hours for those with the stamina.

My job throughout the day was as Paul put it to be the 'stealth photographer' and keeping well out of the way of the wedding photographer I had great fun shooting the candid moments that the bride and groom would not see starting early in the morning with the preparation of the ushers, not unfortunately the brides maids and up to the first dance which to our delight segued from a smooch into a Gangnam Style routine.

I now have over 400 images to edit and process as a memento of a wonderful day.
