Baby Boogie

I have a confession to make. I have never enjoyed baby groups. I am just not that type of Mum sadly and I tend to prefer it when Audrey and I do our own thing. The best I've managed is a library storytime very occasionally on a Friday.

But Audrey is now getting to an age where I am starting to feel as though she'd benefit from these groups and as a result, I have made a decision to join one.

So today we went to a "Baby Boogie" taster session and whether I like it or not is of no consequence as Audrey bloody LOVED it!! I can't deny her this hour every week. I would be a cruel Mother to even try.

Once she realised I wasn't dropping her off at a new nursery and she had stopped clinging to my limbs, she was off. Running around the room in circles, waving her arms from left to right and clapping to the music. All the other Mums managed to keep their children close by or happily sat on their laps swaying to the music. Oh no, not us. Audrey was like a whirlwind in there.

I was pretty much on my own for the whole class as Audrey the adventurer strode around groping other children and generally getting into mischief (stealing other children's shoes, trying to stop the CD on the CD player, opening doors and moving chairs).

At the end of the class, they play a lovely game of peekaboo with silk scarves (see picture). Mothers lovingly place the scarf over their child's face and pull it off shouting peekaboo (you know the one!) Audrey decided to sabotage this game by running round the room pulling everyone's scarves off before the exciting moment. She was quite industrious at it too, you had to give her credit.

I'm not sure they'll want us back at Baby Boogie but tough, we are official recruits from now on!!! Those poor other Mothers!!
