Toad lily

Sitting by the pond bemoaning the fact that summer is coming to an end and noticed this gorgeous Tricyrtis (or toad lily) which was only planted a month ago. I needed a plant that would grow in a shady area and told the nurseryman what he wanted to hear that it would be planted in rich, moist soil. The soil in my garden could never be described as rich so not expecting it to survive or thrive it was planted on a wish and a prayer both of which have worked!
They are also supposed to be hardy enough to handle sudden changes of winter from mild to blustery cold. Perfect!
