Shepherds' delight?

I don't think so. Not this time. I was suddenly aware of a lurid glow coming from the front windows around 8pm - our house faces NE - as well as the more expected remnants of the sunset at the back of the house. There was a strange rainbow-like column on the left of the pink clouds, but it was itself more pink than rainbow-coloured, and I was only too aware of the flood warnings in force for Argyll for the coming 24 hours.

Maybe shepherds have different criteria in other parts of the realm...
