Witness the Reeds
For the first time since they were the witnesses at our wedding last month, we saw our wonderful friends, Chris and Jilly when they popped in for a visit on the way back home from their holiday. Sitting in the garden with the last of the afternoon sun providing light and a little warmth, we caught up on the post nuptial news.
They had spent a week relaxing in a cottage in Church Stretton; it certainly sounds like a great place to visit. At the foot of the scenic Long Mynd, the town has a range of tea shops, delis and a large antiques market to browse. Jilly whooped excitedly about an artisan bookshop and cafe in the nearby town of Bishop's Castle despite the fact it was at the summit of a tough incline!
I used to be intimidated by Chris and Jilly ( Chris is a professor of law; flies a glider; builds ukuleles and plays and sings the funniest sauciest songs! Jilly reads the classics and drinks champagne!) but I had no need to be! They are the nicest, most genuine, caring, considerate human beings you could meet and I feel privileged to call them friends!
Following a spin round the block in Chris' new Mercedes, they left to return to sleepy Suffolk. Roll on New Year when we get to join them there!
