March of the Gents

The last two evenings have seen the Gentoo penguins returning en masse. Yesterday they returned about 7.30 in the evening so I was out there before 7 today, waiting. Oven on Landing Beach I counted 244 and was taking photos of the first courtship and preliminary nest-building when I looked down the beach and at least the same number again were arriving back.

It was a dark, foggy night so not great for photography but expect a few more goes in the next few evenings.
