The Well-dressed Scarecrow
I headed up to Evie today and the shores of the Sound of Eynhallow. I looked out for the otter I'd seen there before but no luck, though spraints suggested there was one in the area. Plenty of common seals hauled out on the shore, and lots of waders; turnstones, snipe, redshank, ringed plover, curlews and dunlin. The last-named were juveniles and allowed me quite close- see a couple of shots here. Still a couple of bonxies and some sandwich terns- they'll be off south soon.
Walking up to the road and the bus, I noticed this very nicely-accoutred scarecrow. A couple of ravens nearby were very unafraid, but perhaps impressed by the handbag.
