Rocking Horse

We are visiting Sally and Bob in Old Lyme, Connecticut. Sally attended Mount Holyoke College with Marylee. This wonderful old plaything was always in her house as she was growing up--it really does swing back and forth.

We're visiting not only to see friends but experience the gathering at dusk of large flocks of tree swallows as they land for their night roost nearby on the Connecticut river. We saw it this evening around sunset simply along the bank but we plan to take a cruise tomorrow organized by Connecticut Audubon to view it hopefully more closely. Tonight it was impressive but apparently not as dramatically intense as it sometimes is; we hope tomorrow will be better.
