... with shadows, cast by a window and a chair. It's a modern copy in cherry, one of a lovely set acquired by my lovely wife, not too long before we met. Gustav Stickley originated this style (often called Mission); he was "the chief proselytizer for the American Craftsman style, an extension of the British Arts and Crafts movement". That eventually led to the Glasgow School and Rennie Mackintosh, whom we encountered on our visit to Glasgow in June. (And so an ill-defined artistic circle is closed :)
