Noises from the SW Front

Belhaven Memories

This huge poster is on the corner of a building at a shopping mall near my office. It's not an ad; I think it's supposed to set some sort of mood for the shoppers.

It reminded me of a holiday in a wee caravan, in a field with too-long, wet grass, across the road from the Belhaven Brewery in West Barns, just outside Dunbar. I remember it as a good holiday - my wee brother remembers the rest of us losing him in the crowd at the stock car racing on the beach. I'm pretty sure I didn't look that cool next to the caravan; of course I was only about 9.

No matter what; I'm pretty sure that wasn't the mood the shopping center marketing people were trying to inspire.
