THE Beach - Melon Udrigle
Bit of a special day today - more about that later.
So first night's sleep in a wee camper van. I expected to wake up screaming due to being a little bit claustrophobic and it's pitch black due to no street lights shining in but it was all good:-) Cooked our breakfast on the two gas rings - a biley up and then black pudding rolls with brown sauce Mmmmmmm. I swear the tea tastes better with the sun shining in the opened up van and us sitting in the sunshine drinking the tea:-)
We had a lovely walk along the beach at Big Sand and the Torridon mountain range were once again alight with the sun shining on them. Headed back and washed up the dishes and packed away all loose stuff, including locking up drawers which is very important as stuff can go flying around as a corner is turned when driving....
Today was our seventh wedding anniversary, and one of the reasons for coming to this area was to revisit one of our favourite beaches ever at Melon Udrigle as we stayed near here for 3 nights on our honeymoon seven years ago. I can't really describe adequately how beautiful this place is. There is a backdrop of majestic mountains, the sea is blue, there are rocks skirting the sides along with grassy slopes where sheep graze. The sand is almost white and best of all, there are hardly any people around.
Spent the whole afternoon here, had a little picnic sitting in the sunshine, watching a couple of guys get to grips with a new dinghy they had just bought the day before. Just chilling out after a little special ceremony we had after arriving.
I love this beach and the surroundings and I hope to return in a few years to enjoy it's beautiful location and the peace I feel just being here.
Oh and here we are at the same place 7 years ago Almost the same spot!
