In the Sunshine

*backblip*

Port de Pollensa is on the northern tip of Majorca and it's very pretty with a lovely long, clean promenade, some of it shaded by Pine trees, that part is called Pine Walk and that's where we have a little apartment, just one street back from the sea. The Med is crystal clear blue, the sandy beach gently shelves into the sea, which is as warm as bath water. There are many good restaurants covering all tastes and there is also a town square where a variety of acts perform in the evening. Oh, and it's sunny and very warm. What more could you ask, for a chilling week in the sun:)

Around 3 miles inland is the pretty medieval town of Pollensa. It has narrow winding streets with a couple of squares with nice cafés and little craft shops. Really liked it there. We went a couple of times on the local buses early enough to have breakfast in the square. After that we decided to climb, slowly in the heat, up the 365 steps to the church at the top which had stunning views of the mountains and the sea.

Of course after the climb and the ascent we had to have another refreshment in a different cafe sitting watching the world go by. I do like that, sitting people watching while sipping a cool drink is perfect on a hot sunny day.

Finished off the day, which was our wedding anniversary, with a nice meal in Maxim's one of the restaurants that skirts the square in the Port. Started speaking to a couple of elderly ladies sitting at the table next to us, one of them had travelled all round the world so really enjoyed hearing her stories. Afterwards to walk off the meal we had a walk down to the end of the marina, which was jam packed with cruisers. It's lovely wandering around in the evening, still warm at 11 o'clock, and listening to the sea gently lapping on the shore.
