Cobham Heritage Day

Today is our village's Heritage Day. Unfortunately the weather is not as good as it was last year for this event - it is grey and raining! There were stalls lining the street selling all sorts of food and other goodies, a vintage car display on the green, a town crier, tall men on stilts (which I have blipped), a fire engine display - all can be seen here. There were also the ubiquitous Morris dancers and a jazz band.

The celebrations finish at 4pm with a much anticipated duck race on the river. More than 6000 ducks race down the Mole River and the first 11 to reach the finish line receive a prize. First prize is £250 and tickets for a duck cost a mere £1. These are of course yellow plastic ducks! Though the real ducks were out and about on the river curious as to what was going on.

Now I must dash off to watch the boys play rugby in the rain!
