On the road ...

Heartfreek's September Challenge.

It's the Great North Run in Newcastle this weekend. The first race took place in 1981 when 12,000 runners took part, last year the number had risen to a mighty 55,000. As a child I remember setting ourselves up on the finishing straight to wait for my Dad coming home, he did it for many many years. We used to have a brilliant day.

Today was the Mini Great North Run, 1.5 km for children aged 3-8, my nephew took part. A little later in the day the Junior Great North Run, 4 km for children 9-16 took place in which my niece took part. Well done to both of them, they did amazingly well!

I am looking forward to watching the actual Great North Run, from the comfort of my lounge, on television tomorrow morning, good luck one and all ...
