Rabelais

This is La Deviniere, the country home of Rabelais' parents. He received his first education at the abbey 600m. from here. We walked there. The abbey church has been demolished and the other buildings are now an environmental centre. Like so many places in France one has a feeling of travelling back in time. as the countryside is so spacious and has been so worked over many centuries.
