This was the A30, the main road in and out of Cornwall, before the dual carriageway was put in across Gossmoor. In the distance, barely visible in the mist, is the infamous rail bridge under which lorries used to get stuck on a weekly basis, thereby closing the road for hours at a time.
In the last three months I have probably driven this road over sixty times but that is likely to change. Cornwall County Council's decision, as part of its £1.6 billion savings, to remove funding from rural bus routes means a severe reduction in services by ALL bus companies. I may well be returning to the job market sooner than I anticipated.
