Whilst I was ordering them I asked if she wanted a book for leisure reading, "Yes please Dad, I'd like Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck". I've only read one of Steinbeck's books, Cannery Row, I enjoyed it so much that when on holiday in California in 2010 we detoured to Monterey where the novel is set so I need to borrow Of Mice And Men from Sam and keep up with my fifteen year old.

Elsewhere, when ever you think life has given you a rough deal it doesn't take long to find someone to put it into perspective. Tonight I am thinking of my friend Alan and his wife Rachel who face a tough three months. I wish them well.
