View from Constitutional Hill

Decided to have a day in Aber as Aberystwyth is locally known. First stop was a trip on the Funicular Railway up Constitution Hill to see the views and visit the Camera Obscura. Yes its definitely worth the trip, especially on a clear day as it has been today. Not so warm today but no rain yet.

In the picture can be seen the pier, the university (founded in 1870 ish), the ruins of the castle and the war memorial which is considered to be one of the finest in Britain. Just out of shot to the left is Pen Dinas which is a well known iron age hillfort. Perched on the top is a chimney-like structure which is in fact a memorial (in the shape of a cannon) to Wellington in honour of his victory at the Battle of Waterloo.

We drove the entire length of the Promenade which is extensive and also paid a visit to the quay.
