Design Award

It's not very often that a fish and chip shop wins a design award, but the recent addition to the original Bakewell fish and chip shop has excelled itself with a wonderful contemporary glass structure to their building on water street that has now given it a rather cool looking upstairs restaurant.
So here we see Mary Chaplin (far left) and Elizabeth Butcher (right) and Pat Lunn (centre) presenting the restaurant manager Sally Bacon with their well deserved Bakewell Civic Society Award.
Personally I'm really pleased that they've won this award as I love contemporary architecture blended in with the old.
What doesn't appeal to me is when new is made to look old in a mock/pseudo blended in rubbish, bland and unimaginative way.
