Mr Bees Vintage - Jack Grandfield

Mr. Bees vintage in Bakewell is always worth a visit and today Nathan the proprietor had for sale a rather lovely, original 1946 gouache illustration for Woman’s Weekly magazine by the artist John "Jack" Grandfield who was born in the third quarter of 1911 in Bromley, Kent. He was a prolific illustrator in the 1930s and '40s, contributing to magazines like The Passing Show, Good Housekeeping, Titbits and Woman's Weekly, and advertising campaigns for Butlin's and others.
Sadly he died in 1947 at the age 37. The painting is rather lovely and seems a steal at £450
