Heptonstall
Heptonstall is a lovely, ancient village above Hebden Bridge. It has narrow streets, cobbled roads, two pubs and three churches.
This is Town Gate - the main road through the village. Nice and peaceful again now, but for the last eight months it has been subjected to a horrendous amount of traffic through the narrow street.
The 'by pass' - a road that circumvents the village - had a major land slip, and was closed from January until just recently. As a consequence all traffic (except HGVs) came through the village. It was awful. Thank goodness the road is open again.
Heptonstall is well worth a visit, just to wander around. It has history around every corner.
