Parentals
This afternoon I had a visit from my parents on DIY duty, bearing tools like something out of a home makeover show. They finally got fed up of me not being bothered about all of the things that are falling apart in my flat, and decided to fix them for me.
The whole process turned out a bit more complicated than we thought, so there was a trip to the local hardware store involved (I didn't even know I had a local hardware store), and before I knew it they were sticking plugs in holes, chiselling stuff and planing bits off things. I now have a toilet seat that doesn't fling you across the room if you approach it from the wrong angle, the bathroom door in my bedroom has a handle again, and the main bathroom door actually closes for the first time. I didn't tell them about the doors in the kitchen that need rehung, I'm sure I'll get around to doing that myself... someday.
Here they are, deep in discussion about the best way to approach the bathroom door problem :)
PS: something that really made me laugh today - a news reporter accidentally lifting a pack of printer paper instead of his iPad, then just rolling with it and holding it right through his piece to camera. Definitely like something that I'd do if I was on TV :)
