We drove down to Minneapolis this day. Not much color in the trees yet. Our first stop was the Mall of America where we had lunch at the Napa Valley Grill. Their endive and spinach salad was wonderful. We stopped at the Williams Sonoma store to look at their flat wear but the pattern we liked wasn't available anymore; so we decided to keep looking. Checked a couple of department stores in the mall but no luck. Our next stop was the new Trader Joes in Bloomington where we picked up a lot of stuff for Mary and Melissa besides ourselves. We drove downtown and checked into the Marriott around 3:00. We had a free night there which initiated the trip. Neither of us have been in downtown Mpls for at least 35 years ( our college days). It was very interesting to see all the new skyscrapers and other changes. We wandered into Macy's and finally found a pattern we both liked and it was on sale for 25% off. Lucky!
Dinner was down the street at the Fogo De Chao a Brazilian steakhouse that Jen and Toby had told us about. It was pricey - $50 each for all you can eat-but well worth it. There were ten different cuts of meat and one could try them all if you had room for it all. The salad bar was awesome and I could have been happy with just the salad bar and bread. The service was excellent also. Other than being a bit noisy it was a wonderful dining experience.
