September Challenge: Day 6 ....

Polished.

Today we have decided to go to the beach as no visit to California is complete without a trip to the beach!

R had been doing some research for things to do in the San Marcos area and he has found a park and overlook that is right up the street from my mom's place. So while we waited for my sisters to come over for our trip to the beach, we took a short drive to see what the park and overlook had to offer. The park was nice but the overlook was spectacular! If not for the haziness we would have been able to see for many miles ~ the ocean was just visible in the distance.

My sisters arrived shortly after lunch and we headed for Oceanside, California. My mom lives closer to it now than she used to. Oceanside is fantastic and has a wonderful pier that is used by many fishermen. And the ocean is full of both swimmers and surfers. I got some photos of the surfers and their polished boards. But I liked this photo taken from the pier better. I liked the polished look of the beach ~ so reflective.

Since the Pacific ocean isn't super warm (around 65 degrees) we don't actually swim, just wade into the surf a little bit. We stayed at the beach for as long as the hot sun would allow. And then we all headed back to my mom's for dinner and a very relaxing night.
