Volunteering again

My other photo idea didn't really work today so this one was a bit last minute. I really need to try and avoid the last minute photos, it's not really the point of blip.

I went to the gym this morning and then headed out to uni in the afternoon. I didn't sleep well last night so I was pretty tired by the time I got back from uni, and grumpy because my class was kind of irritating. The lecture topic was interesting because it was about international students and I was one when I was on exchange, but we had a guest speaker who was talking about how uni students don't engage with their uni anymore. I definitely don't engage with Monash - it's no secret that I don't really like it there, but I was proactive about it and chose to spend a year of my degree on exchange away from Monash. It was annoying to hear this guy talk to us like we were the ones at fault for not engaging, when a lot of us have valid reasons - such as travel time and work - for not spending time on campus. Also I really didn't feel like there was a lot of incentive to get involved, so I never bothered.

That aside, the rest of the lecture was interesting and when I got home I had my volunteer briefing for the Fringe Festival to look forward to. It was at the Lithuanian Club in North Melbourne, an area I've hardly been to, but where most of the festival is held. I spotted some familiar MIFF faces and sat with one girl who I had a few MIFF shifts with which was nice. I think I'm going to enjoy volunteering!

Yeah, look, not a great photo. I am kind of in love with the Fringe marketing design - there's something so cool about digitised fruit. It appeals to my inner design nerd.
