Field maple

This is our only native maple. It's in all the old woods and hedges here in the Sussex Weald. It turns a clear, bright yellow in the Autumn, with these lovely rosy keys. Hedges lovely now, full of fruiting elder, blackberry, hips and haws, blue sloes and black privet and dogwood. Old man's beard there, but wet and bedraggled this morning!
