Culture Night
Unfortunately I have to work tonight so I'll miss most of Culture Night, but from what I saw this evening it looks like it'll be a great event! The atmosphere around Belfast is even friendlier than usual, the pubs are packed and the weather is good, so it couldn't be better really.
A friend who I hadn't seen in a few years has written a short play which was being performed today on a little back street in the Cathedral Quarter, so I popped around to see it. It's called The Inn at the End of Time, and is basically a conversation between god and the devil, held over a couple of pints in the pub. It was only 15 minutes long but I really enjoyed it, it had some clever and funny lines and I found myself smiling all the way through.
While I was waiting for the play to start I grabbed a burger and watched this guy on stilts struggling to give out free balloons to kids. Someone had the smart idea to tangle them all together, so they'd be impossible to separate while standing on solid ground, never mind while balancing on stilts. The poor guy kept getting his hands nipped between the ribbons, he was not happy. I'm sure if there weren't so many kids around there might have been a few swear words uttered :)
