Between fen and mountains

Harvest

My neighbour brought a few figs and a courgette round and invited me to take a ladder around to pick the rest. This has resulted in far more than the ones that overhang our courtyard so it was immediately onto the web to find all the things to do with them. We shall freeze some in syrup, fry some with honey, use some in coucous and in tagines, eat some with goat's cheese and perhaps make some jam.

Le haddock (the French for smoked haddock) was available on the fish van today so I got some to make a kedgeree. We don't see smoked haddock down here very often.
