playtime

this weekend is London house open weekend. Hounslow heath Infant and nursery school opened its doors. As my friend works there we decided to visit the playground that we have been hearing about for a couple of years. Most schools would give their high teeth for a playground like this.
It was funded by BAA and designed by Julian Faulkner, director os small earth, and the school.

The idea was developed by Iranian born architect Nader Khalil whilst working for NASA and was originally conceived for use as lunar habitation. the buildings are proven to be resistant to earthquakes, fire , flood and hurricanes. the adobes are used as out door classrooms as the seem to be soundproof as well. the school is on a flight path with planes flying overhead every 2 minutes..
there was a replica on the SouthBank last summer.
