It's All About Clare
The day finally arrived, we woke in the Holiday Inn, Plymouth, to misty morning. Showered and dressed in all our finery we breakfasted in the penthouse looking out over a mist shrouded Plymouth Hoe.
Up to the huge marquee on the Hoe, Clare collected her cap and gown and we moved through to get photographed, there we met John and Tracy McCormack, John I knew in the Navy, Tracy was the photographer, really good to see them.
Through to the Graduation Hall for what was an at times moving ceremony, Clare looked great if a little overwhelmed at times. The speech was moving and inspiring, people who devote their lives to caring for those at the beginning and end of their lives are to be admired.
Following the ceremony a glass of bubbly and some smally eats preceded a stroll through Plymouth. At times I caught Clare with that 'far away look', perhaps thinking of her Mum or the five years of hard work.
The drive home was uneventful and we are now enjoying a family celebration meal at one of our favourite restaurants. Two bottles of wine plus a free cocktail should ensure Clare sleeps tonight.
