The jogger and the heron

Today's the day ......................... to take flight

A narrowboat is a perfect place to watch wildlife from. As you glide gently along, it's possible to get really close to ducks, swans, moorhens and other water-loving birds before they take avoiding action.

Herons - on the other hand - don't give a toss how near you get, or how much noise you make. They really can't be bothered to make the effort to lift that huge body off the ground - until, like this jogger - you are just about to run into them ......................
