fleet
This tiny almost-walker chortled each time he lost balance and tottered to the floor. Before the sound subsided he'd be rocking from all fours to a tripod again...then slowly testing two feet, arms spread to the sides in counter balance. Transfixed, I peeked around the corner, him unbeknownst.
Actually seeing a bud open in real time might have elicited similar wonder if multiplied times infinity. This was my son. My son engrossed in the experiment of finding balance...steadying...and testing what would happen if he could just move...there.
The moments were fleeting.
Even by the next day he was as confident a walker as he would ever be and running beckoned on the horizon. My word, this boy was made to move!
Granted, I exaggerate, but 12 years in retrospect have flown by at lightening speed.
Presently, I watch with the same humble breathlessness as he zooms to the finish line. What a wonder to me! He is so happy, so focused, so alive. I? I am grateful every moment for what he is driven to find out, and for the health body that supports him in doing so.
